Chief Kevin L.
Chrisman was appointed to lea d
the
Parkville Mo Police Department on January 6th, 2009. His work
experience and qualifications consist of thirty-four years with the Kansas
City Missouri Police Department. He was employed in January of 1973, while a
junior in high school, and worked four years in a civilian position. During
this time he was accepted into the reserve police academy in August of 1976
and graduated in February of 1977.
Shortly thereafter, in June of 1977, he was accepted and started the
full time academy and retired in December of 2006 at the rank of Major.
He held numerous assignments and leadership roles as well as received
many commendations and awards throughout his career.
Some of the assignments included the Internal Affairs Unit, Staff
Planning Unit, S.W.A.T. Unit, as an officer and commander.
He worked several years in the Narcotics and Vice Division as an
undercover detective and supervisor. He was the Co-Director of the Midwest
High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (H.I.D.T.A.)
Investigative Support Center,
which is responsible for making an effort in reducing illegal drug
availability in critical and identified markets within a six state area.
He was the commander of the Investigative Services Unit and Property
Crimes Division, which included the fugitive and apprehension and bomb and
arson sections. Most of his
patrol assignments were in the urban core areas and he was the Division
commander of Metro Patrol Division and the city-wide duty commander, while
assigned to the Patrol Bureau Office.
He is a lifelong northland resident and graduated from
Winnetonka High School, in the North Kansas City
School District.
He has an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from
Penn Valley Community College
and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from Park
University.
He also completed his graduate degree in Masters of Science in
Management from Baker University.
Chief Chrisman is excited to be doing police work in a community that
is supportive of law enforcement and doing something that he truly enjoys.
He is an advocate of community policing and encourages his personnel
to be pro-active in serving the public.
